Victorian Gazebo

I started this card with a Heartfelt designer sheet that I embossed with Tim Holtz Bricks embossing folder and sponged it with some brown and black inks to bring out the brick pattern. I topped it with the PTI cover a card die cut.  The Gazebo is a Spellbinders die the fence is IO, the leaves Die Namites and the flowers are Cheery Lynn medium rose strip. I will enter this in the following challenges

Mod Squad Challenge Anything Goes

I am so excited to be the hostess for this week's Mod Squad Challenge.  It is a prize week with One  Happy Cuts offering a $15 gift certificate for one lucky winner who will be selected randomly. Let's make it easy... Anything Goes with at least one die cut made by a company that Happy Cuts sells. That's easy since they carry all the major brands.  Be sure to list the company that makes the die or dies you use. Check out the Mod Squad Challenge Blog Here and become a follower then join me for this fun challenge.  Tell your friends because they might want to enter too.

For my focal point, I used the zinna die by Spellbinders.  I must tell you that it is a time consuming flower. Lots of cutting and gluing, but the results are beautiful. I created the panel underneath the zinna by inking an embossing folder and spritzing it with glimmer mist and ran it through the Big Shot. I used a sketch from the Die Namites Blog and I will enter it in their July Sketch and Dare Challenge.  The dare is to do some drawing or doodling. I am not much of a drawer or doodler so I confined that part of the challenge to the tag. See my itty bitty flower.

Christmas in July

I had these scraps of paper in my basket and a snowflake die that I just got from IO that I wanted to use so I made this card.  It did not come out exactly like I pictured but it is glittery.  I will enter it in the IO Challenge Any Holiday Here and the DRU Challenge Christmas in July Here .

The Wing's the Thing.

I have not had a chance for many challenges lately because other obligations, but I needed to make a gift set of cards for a raffle basket for a woman's group I belong to and I wanted to enter the Mod Squad Challenge  because one of my talented mentors, Judy Woodland, is the hostess this week. I needed something with wings so I came up with this design.  I used three different colors (2 cards of each color) and stamped the bird on the front of the envelope and embossed the back flap of the envelope.  Then I used the envelope punch board to make a box for the gift set.  I was also able to use scraps of designer paper from other projects(love that).
The feather is MFT, the bird is PTI, and the sentiment is from Gina K. I will enter this in the Mod Squad Challenge. Here

Water color feathers

I love the Make it Monday videos over at PTI because I always learn so much,  This week's challenge was to use a die cut to make a stencil and then water color.  The fun part is that you could use the positive or the negative part to be the stencil.  I have had the PTI Feather Finery stamp set for quite  awhile, but the dies were out of stock when I ordered the stamps. In fact, every time I placed an order from them they were out of stock.  The last time I ordered they were available so this is the first time I used the dies.  I used the negative as a mask while I water colored  with distress inks. I decided to add a bit more to the design by stamping the feather image over the water color.

Silver or Gold Challenge

The Cheery Lynn challenge this week was to use silver or gold.  For some reason, I could not come up with an idea so I got out my scrap box.  I found this butterfly from Cheery Lynn that was cut from some pp that had some silver foil in it.  I kept digging and found this silver glitter die cut that must have been from a project years ago because I did not remember having it. Then I found this light grey pp and it all worked together.  I stamped a sentiment from IO then mounted it on a black mat then onto some PTI soft stone card.  I took the picture but forgot to load it to the Cheery Lynn blog.  When I remembered, I had only minutes to spare. but I made it. Check out the Challenge Blog  Here .

White on White.

I love white on white cards when someone else makes them, but the Cherry Lynn Challenge thiw week was white on white so I gave it a try.

The coverplate is a Spellbinder's die and the large butterfly is Cheery Lynn's medium butterfly.

Mom's Birthday

My Mother turns 93 years young this month so I made this accordion  fold card by Karen Burniston for her.   This is my first time to make one of these so, as usual, I made a few mistakes along the way.  I wanted sturdiness so I used Gina K 120 pound card. It was a bit hard to fold and is a bit bulky so I will use a bit lighter card next time.

Adding Color to Cover Plates.

I used a make It Market kit by Betsy Veldman for this card.  I water colored the cover plate and created a water colored background for this card. The cover plate fits an  A2 size card so I cut my card base at 9 by 5 3/4 and fold at 4 1/2 so I have a little border around my card.

I made this card for the PTI Make It Monday Challenge.  Here

Christmas in July

Cheery Lynn's challenge is Christmas in July which gave me an opportunity to make my first Christmas card. I had a paper pack that I bought several years ago that had this wonderful scene as part of a scrap book page.  I cut it out and mounted it behind a circular frame and popped that up on another die cut.  The poinsettia is  a Spellbinders die, and the holly leaves and fir branches are Cheery Lynn.  I also used a Cheery Lynn holly corner die but tore it apart to make it fit.  The Sentiment is  also Cheery Lynn.  I cut it from a paper pack and white card and glued them together to get some dimension.I also embossed it to give it some shine.  The white panel is embossed but that does not show well in the picture. I will enter this in the Cheery Lynn Challenge. Here
