Double D Challenge Blog Silhouttes

Don't you just love this mood board that Darlene put together for us.  The one thing they all had in common is a colorful sky so that is where I took my inspiration.

I inked a piece of card with a distress inks using a mask to make the moon.  The background is actually much brighter, but despite numerous attempts it always looks washed out in the pictures. I have had this Die Namites die for months but this is the first time I have used it. It was perfect for this challenge. Of course, I had to use my new favorite die from Tuttie Designs to surround the window like lace curtains. Really simple card using only two dies and some inks but great for all your cat loving friends.

If you link up a project at Double D, you will have a chance to win the darling set of Frantic Stamper dies.

The team has put together some fabulous inspiration for you. Go take a look over at

Dies R Us Tag

It is time for a new challenge at Dies R Us. This time we are challenging you to make a tag. I had a pretty piece of water colored paper in my scrap basket in orange and yellow so I began with that. I cit the Elizabeth Crafts Die in white and in the water colored paper.

I wanted something more  on the bottom part of the tag and noticed I had already cut the iron gate from Diversions for a project that ended up going a different direction so I put that on top of the tag and it fit perfectly. I just had to trim the top and feet, A Die Namics flourish , some Memory Box Tall Choloe and some flowers and ribbon from my stash and I was done.  The DRU team  team has some fabulous Inspiration for you so be sure to check it out. We are looking forward to seeing you tags.

Dies R Us Easter

It is time for a new challenge at Dies R US and it is all about Easter. I decided this Praying Hands Egg by Tutti Designs was a perfect Easter Image. I had some paper that reminds me a bit of stained glass so I used that as a background. I cut the egg die twice, once in black and once in white. I used a green marker on the white die cut to go around the frame of the egg and the trim of the sleeves. I also used my stylist to give a little dimension to the flowers. Then I used markers to color the hands.  Behind the Egg die, I used the Rose Frame also by Tutti Designs.  I like that frame so much that I have used it on every card I have made recently. I must put it away. The Happy and Easter are Cheery Lynn Dies. I should have used a darker color to make the sentiment pop more, but I did layer it three times so it shows better INRL.  I think this Praying hands egg would make a beautiful sympathy card too.

Double D Challenge Things That Fly

Time for another fun challenge at DOUBLE D CHALLENGE BLOG.  It is all about things that fly. Here is the fun, colorful mood board. I took my inspiration from the black and white balloons. Looks like a party to me.

Here is my card. This is a clean and simple card for me. Look at all that white space. I used the Balloon Adventure Pop Up stamp and die set from Stamping Up and a Memory Box die cut for the sides.

Look at the wonderful Memory Box die that one random participant in the challenge will receive. I know you will want to see all the inspiration from the design team DOUBLE D CHALLENGE BLOG.   Be sure to link up something that flies in the gallery. We are always inspired by YOU.

Dies R Us Borders / Edges

We have been getting so many gorgeous designs from all of you at the Dies R Us Challenge Blog so we are excited to see what you will do with this challenge. I posted two cards today and they are so different. The one at Double D is clean and simple and this is anything but that.

I started with white card stock and embossed it with a Swiss dot embossing folder. I took another piece of white card and die cut it with Sue Wilson's Centarus border on both ends. I topped that with another  design from Sue Wilson,Toranto popping up the center a bit from the largest die cut. Then I used the sentiment from Sue Wilson's Ornate Ovals. Various already cut greenery furnishes the background for the homemade Susan's Garden dogwood flowers and a Memory Box butterfly. You can find these fabulous dies at the Dies R Us  STORE

Dies R Us Something New

The Challenge at DIES R US is Something New. I have so many new things that I got for Christmas that I have not used yet so this was a fun challenge.

I started with some PTI paper that I got on sale and added the beautiful Tutti rose frame (a brand new purchase). The daisy is a Spellbinders' die that I have had forever.  All these dies are available at the Dies R US store.

So grab a new purchase and create something fabulous and link it up at DIES R US  Challenge Blog. We love seeing what you create.

Double D Think Spring

Isn't this the happiest MOOD BOARD. I smile every time I see it. I liked all the frames but settled in on the pail of tulips.

I have been practicing with my tulip layering stamp from PTI so I grabbed a few that were better than others and added them to my IO pail. A Tim Holtz brick embossing folder to give it a bit or the rustic look and a PTI trellis, a gift from a special friend, and a PTI Happy sentiment finished the card. This is a birthday card whose favorite flower is tulips so I bought this stamp and die set just for her.

Here is the prize for one lucky random draw.

As usual the DD Design Team has some wonderful inspiration for you. We are looking forward to seeing what you create for this beautiful board.

Dies R Us Think Spring

Time for a new challenge at DIES R US. Are you ready to Think Spring? With the record snows in some areas I know many of you are ready for the first sign of spring. In California, the almond trees fill out with soft pink blossoms in February.  Since we have many almond orchards surrounding us, I am looking forward to the day they begin to flower.  .

Last fall I made a similar card using fall colors and liked it so I thought I would make another one with a spring theme. I sponged a sun then covered it with a mask so I could sponge a blue sky. I layered the bench grass and tree and then framed the scene. A couple kitties and  my scene was done.

The team has some fabulous inspiration for you so go take a look Dies R US  and then link up your spring creations.

Double D Rick Rac/ Zig Zag

New Mood Board and New Challenge over at Double D Challenge Blog and as usual we have a wonderful mood board. I liked the soft pastel colors mixed with white so I used that for my inspiration.

I love it when I see a mood board that allows me to use something I have not used for awhile.   I pulled out My Favorite Things Chevron Cover Plate for this challenge. I cut it four times so I would have a variety of colors and patterns.

My fabulous PTI papers were perfect for this design.    I had lavender moon, spring rain, and harvest gold paper packs. I enjoy these papers so much that I had several others on my wish list so can you imagine my happy dance when they put them on sale for their anniversary (marked down from $12 to $ 1). I got every color on my wish list.  since I cut it four times I saved the parts I did not use so I can make three more cards. I used PTI Wet Paint 2 for the sentiment and added one of my homemade flowers and some greenery. This pattern would make a cute baby card.

Out team is always so impressed with your entries in the challenges. There are so many talented designers and we are glad the mood boards inspire you. Here is the prize for this challenge.

I can't wait to see what you all come up with. Visit the  Double D Challenge Blog  to see details and find more inspiration from the team.

Sympathy Birds

This week's PTI challenge was a lot of fun and fit in with some new dies and papers I just received from their gigantic sale. I have been wanting their spring woods stamp and die set for some time and had them in my cart waiting for the fabulous paper sale so I could get them along with several of their designer pacs.  Lexi Daly had the Make it Monday Challenge this week and her theme fit right into my new purchases. She challenged us to use patterned paper with die cuts. To see her challenge and get the details go HERE. I cut the birds form twig wreath paper pack and used a sheet of the spring woods paper pack for the background.
The paper pack made this a quick and easy card, but I like it. I used some of the twig wreath paper on the bottom and stamped a sentiment from the spring woods set.  I will enter this at the PTI challenge and also at NBUS challenge 10 since I have never used any of these things before. I can't wait to play with the stamp set  which includes branches, birds, and flowers now.

Double D Lavender and Lace

This lavender and lace mood board is very feminine and it was fun to make a card using it for inspiration.

I needed several birthday cards this month so while I had my materials handy I made a few cards using basically the same design. I originally made this card for the challenge but I thought it looked  more pink than lavender enough even though the PTI paper is called lavender moon. I embossed the bottom with a Swiss dot embossing folder. I tied a ribbon from lace, added some greenery, a couple of Wild Orchid flowers a sentiment from Sue Wilson and some enamel dots.

I decided to make another one in lavender and purple card to post on DD Blog.  I used some Gina K card stock in shades of lavender and purple.  I doubled the border on this card using two of the dies from a Sue Wilson set. Frantic Stamper Ivy, Tim Holtz ferns, and some lace from my stash  are the backdrop for a lavender silk flower. the bottom is embossed with the Swiss Dots embossing folder

The Prize for this Challenge is this beautiful border.

My teammates have outdone themselves with this board. Go visit the Double D Blog and the pull out your lavender and lace.
