Notebook

I am guest designing again at the CROPSHOP so I made a note book for a friend of mine. I love making these little notebooks for family and friends.  They are great next to the computer, the phone or in a purse.  There a several online tutorials like this ONE  on how to make a version of this with post it notes.. If you want to use the larger  paper packs from the Dollar Store like this one, the measurements are a piece of card stock 5 ½  by 9 ½  scored at 4,4 ½ and 5.

The top panel was created using these steps.
1.       Cut a 51/2 by 4-inch piece of white card stock.
2.       Emboss it with the Cuttlebug Swiss dot embossing folder.
3.       Frame that with largest Frantic Stamper Fancy Frames 1.
4.       The center oval was made by using several Sue Wilson dies: Ornate Oval Just for You, Montreal, and Toronto.  The great thing about Sue’s designs is that many of them are interchangeable.
5.       To finish the bottom, I used Elizabeth Craft’s Dogwood 2 and Ostrich Fern.  Prills finished the       centers of the flowers.
6.       The little hummingbirds are from Poppy Stamps.

Impression Obsession Stamp a Background

While I had my IO Cover a Card stamps out I made a few more backgrounds so I decided to make another card for the Impression Obsession Stamp a Background Challenge.

This time I used the IO Gingham background. I stamped with versa mark and embossed with white powder and sponged with Distress Ink fossilized amber. The Happy Birthday is a new die from IO. I added a  little color and some shaping on the strawberry flowers and filled with flower soft.   I created the frame by using two Spellbinders dies.

These are the IO products I used for this card.

Spring Wreath

The challenge at Impression Obsession  this time is Stamp a Background.  I have several of their cover a card stamps so I decided to make a few backgrounds and turn them into cards. One of my favorite CAC patterns is the wood grain plank.  I made several backgrounds with different papers. Some I liked and some not as much. I used one of my favorites on this card.

This is dark brown card stock that I stamped with versa mark and embossed with black embossing powder. The end result reminded me of a door so I thought it needed a wreath. I used two circle dies to get a wreath. I used three of these glued together to get dimension and stability. I started at one place on the wreath and covered the entire wreath with segments of leafy branches. I cut the cute IO birds in blue shaded them a bit and then gave them yellow beaks and used a marker to make the eyes.  I cut the IO flowers in blues and yellows and filled the wreath.  I felt like it needed something in the center so why not a bird house.

I used these Impression Obsession dies and stamps.

Hurricane Candle

It is always such an honor to be asked to guest design so I am excited that I  have been invited to be a guest designer at the CROPSTOP.  I love candles. There is something romantic and serene about them. So when I saw the Elizabeth Craft Hurricane candle,  I had to have it.
Image result for elizabeth Craft hurricane candle

The front of the package for this hurricane candle pairs it with some pine boughs and a poinsettia so I think the idea was to use it for a Christmas card.  It is too pretty to use just for Christmas so I created a spring time card that could be used for many different occasions.

Here are the directions.
1.       Cut a card base 4 ¼ by 5 ½.
2.        Use another piece of card stock a little larger and cut it with the Memory Box Blooming Floral            Frame.
3.       Adhere to the card base.
4.       Cut the hurricane two times from vellum
5.       Cut the candle three times from card stock and glue together to give it some dimension.
6.       Glue candle to one piece of the vellum
7.       Glue the second vellum hurricane on top using Ailene’s tacky glue at the bottom part of the       hurricane  where the flowers will cover the glue.
8.       Cut and shape Heartfelt Creations Arianna Blossom and put some Prills in the center.
9.       Tuck some Elizabeth Craft ferns behind the flowers.

I       I sent this as a Birthday card to my favorite SIL.

Double D Bling It UP

Are you ready for a new Double D Challenge? Do you like bling on a card? If you do, Darlene has put together a mood board just for you.

I chose to use the shades of blue in several of the photos and the rows of bling in the first photo. Another one of those cards that was better in my head than how it came out. But at least it has some bling. I got a card from my crafting friend, Judy,a while back that used this type of background so,of course, I pulled out my score board to try this technique. The borders behind the bling are Spellbinder's borders that I have not used for ages.  I put a flower on top and topped that with a Cheery Lynn butterfly cut from glitter paper.

Now that you have seen my attempt at bling go check out what the design team has created for this challenge at Double D Challenge Blog. If you create a card with bling and add it to the gallery you could win a little extra bling.

Dies R Us Birds

A new challenge at Dies R Us CHALLENGE BLOG starts today. You must use a bird on your card and also remember that that you must use at least one metal die on your card.  I decided to keep this card clean and simple. I cut a piece of blue card stock with Impression Obsessions Ornate oval to make an aperture. I cut it again in white and inlaid the outer oval. I popped up the other two parts of the oval for dimension and then added the birds as a few sequins. I did not add a sentiment because I thought this card could be used for many occasions.

You can find the dies I used over at the Dies R Us Store. The store is adding new products like papers, inks, and tools all the time. If you don't get regular e-mails from DRU, you need to sign up because there are many sales and special order items that you are missing.

Impression Obsession Challenge

I had some time this weekend so I decided to make a card for Impression Obsession All that Glitters Challenge.  One of my favorite winter dies is this Snowflake cover plate by IO. It is so pretty on its own that you don't need much else for a pretty card. I had some blue glitter paper in my stash that I used behind the snowflake die cut and also to cut out the ovals from the Ornate ovals and the Merry Christmas. I added dimension by lifting some of the layers with pop dots.  I forgot to take a picture and enter it in the challenge until today so I just have a few hours to get it entered. So off I go.

Memory Box Challenge

Since I have so many Memory Box dies, I love to play in the challenges when I have time. The challenge this month is Memory Box Insects  butterflies, bees, and dragonflies. I have been having fun lately pulling out some dies and deciding to use them. For this card, I pulled out three dies I have not used for awhile. Delightful Peony, Delightful Peony Outline and Butterfly Exhibit. I was not sure where I was going but this I what I came up with.

I just used the leaves and the flower for this card. I cut both dies in vellum  and an extra leaf from the outline. I colored the back of  velum with alcohol markers and glued them to the outline flower and leaves. Butterfly exhibit was cut in black. The thank you is from Cheery Lynn. This will be an easy mailer.

Double D May flowers

It's the first Wednesday of the month and time for another challenge at Double D Challenge Blog This is one of the prettiest mood boards ever and who doesn't love flowers. I picked the blue and yellow flowers.

The card I designed could be used for Easter, or a conformation, but unfortunately, I used it as a sympathy card.

I used lots of layers and flowers on this one.
These are some of the dies I used.

Dies R Us Flowers

I needed some invitations to a special luncheon for a Scholarship group I belong to. Our theme was Bloom Where You're Planted so  potted plants were perfect. I cut the pot from white card and colored it with Copic markers.  I used Memento inks (available at the Dies R U Store) to add color to the flowers and some home made flower soft for the centers. I cut the chevron die three times to give it dimension.

Here are the dies that are available at the Dies R U Store
