This is my first project since I returned home from visiting my family in Illinois and Pennsylvania. I had a great time visiting, but it is always goo to get back home. I did this project for the Die Shaped Boxes challenge at Papertrey Ink . You can find the challenge and the video Here. I used the enclosed cupcake die for the box . It was a really easy project. I used PTI papers and decorated the top with prills a Spellbinders bitty blossoms and leaves. I was out of tissue paper but I will get some. I plan to fill the box with almond brittle.

White Washed Flowers
My talented friend, Barbara Campbell, has challenged us with a fun technique called white wash this week at the Mod Squad Challenge Blog. I loved the beautiful blue card she made so I decided to try pink. This is prettier IRL. I could not get a good picture. You can check out the challenge and find a link to the video showing how to do this technique.
Yvonne's Birthday
This is a card I made for my bff. She loves flowers and gardening and has a lovely back yard so my theme is GARDEN. She came for dinner last night (my fabulous husband cooked her favorite meal)so I gave her the card. . Since I found everything I needed in my scrap box,it only took half an hour to put this together. Just kidding. I spent an obscene amount of time on this card. Hence, I have not had much time for challenges. Since we are best friends, she sees most of my cards as I am working on them so I had to make sure she would not pop in and catch me making this, and I had to make it extra special.

Christmas Tag
This is a tag I made for the challenge at Scrapyland. It actually came together easily because most of the parts were in my scrap box. The doves were illustrated by Marcella Hawley for Flourishes. I stamped and colored them last year but did not use them. The flower was made last year too,and I had some left over wheat from another project. I cut and embossed the tag sponged it and then added my layers. I did need to cut the holly leaves and the pine bough.

Fall Invitation
A group I belong to needed invitations to a luncheon we are hosting in October. I decided to go with a fall design, but I wanted something simple that could be mailed easily. I made an envelope with my envelope punch board that is a little larger than A2 size so this slips in easily and meets mailing standards for one stamp. I looked on Pinterest for some ideas and I found a design I loved by Sherry Hester Here.

Lavender and Lace
My good friend,Judy Woodland, is the hostess at the Mod Squad Challenge Blog this week. She challenged us to use either lavender or lace or both. I think my lacy die cut will count as lace and I used lavender as my color. All the dies are Spellbinders and the stamp is 3 Step Heart and Roses by Kitchen Sink Stamps. These stamps are amazing. Most of them have a multi-stamp feature that lets you get great detail in your images. Kitchen sink Stamps is sponsoring this challenge so one lucky random entry will win a $25 gift certificate to their store. Find the details Here

Interlocking Gatefold
My good friend, Barb is the hostess at Mod Squad Challenge Blog She challenged us to make a gatefold card, and the Cherry Lynn Challenge is Back to Nature(Birds, Butterflies etc) so I thought I would combine the two. I made an inter locking card by cutting a frame using two Spellbinder dies in rose card. Then I cut the smaller die out in ivory embossed the edges and sponged it while it was still in the die. I stamped the sentiment and a few leaves on the die cut. I cut the card base and layered it with some green card and ODB designer paper. After I assembled the card, I popped on some flowers and leaves and a Cheery Lynn butterfly.

Stephanie's Card
I started with a 4x5 1/2 piece of card. I used a mask to create the sun then used the negative of that mask to cover the sun while I sponged the sky. Post it notes helped me to create the horizon line where the sky and sea meet. Next I used a stamp set from Flourishes(no longer in business) to stamp the palm trees, clouds and boat. Colored them with colored pencils the sponged some sand on the bottom. Next I cut a Lucy Label from Karen Burniston. I used it as a template so I could cut my sponged and stamped panel so that it would fit over the pop up parts. After the top piece was in place I sponged the bottom panel to look like sand. I used toothpicks on the IO umbrellas and secured them to the back of the label, The table and chairs is a sticker from Jolee. You can't see them in the picture but there are some IO sand castles behind the table. I finished the bottom with a Happy Birthday from Cheery Lynn and another stamp from flourishes and some IO flip flops. The front of the card was done awhile back for another challenge. I won't lie this card took about three hours to do, but I like how it came out.

Mod Squad Challenge Anything Goes
I am so excited to be the hostess for this week's Mod Squad Challenge. It is a prize week with One Happy Cuts offering a $15 gift certificate for one lucky winner who will be selected randomly. Let's make it easy... Anything Goes with at least one die cut made by a company that Happy Cuts sells. That's easy since they carry all the major brands. Be sure to list the company that makes the die or dies you use. Check out the Mod Squad Challenge Blog Here and become a follower then join me for this fun challenge. Tell your friends because they might want to enter too.
For my focal point, I used the zinna die by Spellbinders. I must tell you that it is a time consuming flower. Lots of cutting and gluing, but the results are beautiful. I created the panel underneath the zinna by inking an embossing folder and spritzing it with glimmer mist and ran it through the Big Shot. I used a sketch from the Die Namites Blog and I will enter it in their July Sketch and Dare Challenge. The dare is to do some drawing or doodling. I am not much of a drawer or doodler so I confined that part of the challenge to the tag. See my itty bitty flower.

The Wing's the Thing.
I have not had a chance for many challenges lately because other obligations, but I needed to make a gift set of cards for a raffle basket for a woman's group I belong to and I wanted to enter the Mod Squad Challenge because one of my talented mentors, Judy Woodland, is the hostess this week. I needed something with wings so I came up with this design. I used three different colors (2 cards of each color) and stamped the bird on the front of the envelope and embossed the back flap of the envelope. Then I used the envelope punch board to make a box for the gift set. I was also able to use scraps of designer paper from other projects(love that).
The feather is MFT, the bird is PTI, and the sentiment is from Gina K. I will enter this in the Mod Squad Challenge. Here

Water color feathers
I love the Make it Monday videos over at PTI because I always learn so much, This week's challenge was to use a die cut to make a stencil and then water color. The fun part is that you could use the positive or the negative part to be the stencil. I have had the PTI Feather Finery stamp set for quite awhile, but the dies were out of stock when I ordered the stamps. In fact, every time I placed an order from them they were out of stock. The last time I ordered they were available so this is the first time I used the dies. I used the negative as a mask while I water colored with distress inks. I decided to add a bit more to the design by stamping the feather image over the water color.

Silver or Gold Challenge
The Cheery Lynn challenge this week was to use silver or gold. For some reason, I could not come up with an idea so I got out my scrap box. I found this butterfly from Cheery Lynn that was cut from some pp that had some silver foil in it. I kept digging and found this silver glitter die cut that must have been from a project years ago because I did not remember having it. Then I found this light grey pp and it all worked together. I stamped a sentiment from IO then mounted it on a black mat then onto some PTI soft stone card. I took the picture but forgot to load it to the Cheery Lynn blog. When I remembered, I had only minutes to spare. but I made it. Check out the Challenge Blog Here .

Mom's Birthday
My Mother turns 93 years young this month so I made this accordion fold card by Karen Burniston for her. This is my first time to make one of these so, as usual, I made a few mistakes along the way. I wanted sturdiness so I used Gina K 120 pound card. It was a bit hard to fold and is a bit bulky so I will use a bit lighter card next time.

Adding Color to Cover Plates.
I used a make It Market kit by Betsy Veldman for this card. I water colored the cover plate and created a water colored background for this card. The cover plate fits an A2 size card so I cut my card base at 9 by 5 3/4 and fold at 4 1/2 so I have a little border around my card.

Stretch on a Sketch
When I do a sketch challenge, I usually try to match it exactly, but this time I decided to take some liberties. I used three feathers instead of fishtail dies and string instead of leaves and the border is at the top of the card instead of one third of the way down. This card came together as I was cleaning out a box of scraps. When I first got the PTI feather stamp,I experimented with it and stamped and embossed it in different colors on various colors of card. The top border was scraps left over from a cover plate die. I just glued two of them together. The white background was left over from a set of note cards I made for a friend(I always die cut a couple of extras in case I make a mistake). I did cut, emboss, and sponge the kraft layer and cut a kraft card base.

Butterfly in Blue
My friends know how I love butterflies and this die from IO is fabulous. I cut it from glitter paper and black card and layered them to get a 3d effect. I had the scraps of paper and the tools still out from yesterday's project so used the same papers with a different layout and butterfly for the IO challenge, Celebrate You. This cards celebrates things I love most on a card: butterflies, layers and dimension. I used a tip from Jennifer Mcquire and each of the layers is popped up with fun foam. I just cut the foam with the size smaller die and adhered it with score tape. You can't see the dimension very well, but there are five layers that are popped up. The Scrappyland chllenge is favorite color combination. I have many colors I love using, but I am a monochromatic gal. I love seeing bright bold contrasting colors in a design, but when I try it, the results are shaky.
I used the following IO products

Rule of Thirds

The first lesson was a composition lesson on applying the rule of thirds. I used a vertical and horizontal line and had them intersect and put the focal point there. The paper is from PTI the leafy flourish is Die Namics and the the butterfly is Cheery Lynn.
This is Kimberly Crawford from MFT example.

This is my attempt.

Happy Father's Day
I wanted to participate in the Mod Squad Happy Father's Day Challenge this week because my talented friend, Judy Woodland. is hosting, and because the prize this week is a $25 gift certificate from Kitchen Sink Stamps. I have a great many of their sets on my wish list so I would be over the moon if my random number is selected. Either way,I will spend a chunk of this month's craft budget in their store. As for the card, I am sure most of you will look at it and wonder if I lost my design sense, but believe it or not, this card will make perfect sense to my husband and he will love it.
Go check out the Mod Squad Challenge and the fabulous example Judy created Here.
