Butterfly Hugs. 2

I don't know about other card makers but when I have supplies out I tend to make more than one of a design. I had the adhesive sheets, the prills, and the die cuts there so I made three different backgrounds using different colors of prills.
The first card I made was for the Mod Squad Challenge Blog. If you want to see how I did this card came together you can visit this post. Here I use Gina Marie's flower die and fern die for the background. I decided to frame this card and then I added a Heartfelt flower that I colored with Spectrum Noirs. For embellishment I used a Cheery Lynn Butterfly and Hugs word die. Awhile back, I made a card where I put the hugs on top of the butterfly and I liked it  so I decided this card needed a butterfly hug. I will enter this in the Cheery Lynn Lots of Layers Challenge and Simon Says Wednesday Anything Goes

New Die Company

No card today but just a note to tell you there is a new die company that offers some of the prettiest dies I have ever seen. They will be starting their blog on June 1, and I know you will not want to miss the inspiration from the design team. Two of my Double D buddies are on the team and they are both offering a Tutti Designs die to one lucky winner who leaves a comment. So head over to their blogs Darlene and Diane and check out the info. You should also take a look at what Tutti Designs has to offer. You are going to love their products.

Mod Squad Challenge Blog Use It or Lose It

Challenge
I am hosting the Mod Squad Challenge this week with Peggy Timmerman.
The challenge this week is Use it or Lose It.
Challenge
When I did my spring cleaning this year, I found several products and tools that I bought but never used, and admit it you have some too. So I am challenging you  to go through your tools and supplies and choose something you have not used for a long time, rarely used, or never used, and put it to work.  Be sure to tell us what product or tool “came out of hiding” for your project.

This Weeks Sponsor is

For my project I used two Gina Marie Dies, fern die and flower die that came from Kat's store.

Gina Marie Designs Fern Dies - Kat Scrappiness

Here is my completed project.

I cut the flower die from Gina K white heavy base weight card. This is easy to remove from the die because there are small holes in the corners to help you release it easily.

I positioned the die cut on my MISTY. I like to stamp it a couple of times to get a dark image.

Here is the first product that I bought ages ago and have never used, double sided adhesive sheets. I cut a piece slightly smaller than the die cut and adhered it behind my die cut.

TIP  When adhering the adhesive sheet to the die cut pull the release paper down a little bit then you can align the top corners perfectly. Secure the top and then pull the release paper the rest of the way down and it will align all the way down.

The second product that I am using that I bought but have not used much is PRILLS. I have put them in the centers of a few flowers, but I have 14 different colors and I have only used three.

TIP 2 Put something under your work that has a lip because these little guys roll around like crazy. Pour them over the adhesive and burnish them with your fingers until the entire design is covered.

Now just add some pretty embellishments and you have a card full of texture and dimension.
If you don't have Prills you could use micro beads and get a similar effect. I like that these are all different sizes.

Here's another look at the finished product.

Another card made in the same way. I entered this at the Lots of Layers challenge at Scrapy Land.

Celebrate

I made this card to sent to a special friend and for the Scrapy Land Lots of Layers Challenge.  I used Gina Maries Flower die and Fern die and the Diversions Curly Word dies. I started with black card stock and cut it with the flower die. I backed that with some double sided adhesive then poured white prills on top and burnished it with my finger. I cut the fen dies in white and black and layered them to form a background for my wild Iris flowers. I layered the Celebrate with two layers of withe and one of black to give it more dimension then the front panel was  mounted on white card base.

Sam's Birthday

My great niece is having her eighth birthday next month, I already knew I wanted to use the PTI enclosed cupcake for her card and I always send some money so when Make it With Money Challenge   was introduced at PTI,  I wanted to try to do both.  Of course,  Lexi did an elaborate paper fold and made the cutest card ever, and it has been fun to see all the wonderful designs using paper folds on the blog.
My original intent was to use the money as a candle but that looked strange so I decided to cut two cup cake wrappers and use one on the front of the card and one on the back to form a pocket for the money. I used some foam tape on the sides and bottom of the back wrapper to lift it from the cupcake base and make a pocket for the money. Then I decorated the front of the card.

She is to going to be eight so I used a five dollar bill and three candles. The delineation between the parts of the cupcake shows up better in real life. There is lots of glitter on this card following a technique my friend Judy Woodland told me about. I used it on the icing and on the background behind the pretty card panel.  I used  two water colored panels that were in my scrap box for the icing and the background. I finished it off with a couple of flowers from Wild Iris.

Scrap box card

I wanted to make a card for the Cheery Lynn Red, White and Blue Challenge so I went to my scrap box to see what I already had after doing a patriotic card for Double D. I found and A2 frame, some blue wood grained paper I had made but chose to use the red for the Double D, one half of a Cheery Lynn Italian Flourish, a Tim Holtz die cut stenciled with molding paste through a Die-Versions brick die cut, a Cheery Lynn Large flourish with leaves die cut and some white leaves.

All I needed to finish the card was the Cheery Lynn Butterfly cut in blue and some red flowers. I had colored these Heartfelt Creations flowers last night so I shaped them for the card and cut my butterfly and assembled the card. I still have two more Tim Holtz die cut panels with the brick molding so you will be seeing one of them in the near future.

I will enter this in the Cheery Lynn Red, White, Blue Challenge  and

Double D Patriotic / Support Our Troops Challenge

Are you ready to have fun with another fabulous inspirational board at Double D Challenges?  Here it is just in time for Memorial Day and the Forth of July.

You have a chance to win this fabulous Thank You die just for playing.
The Prize

My inspiration came from the colors the flag and the silhouette of the soldier. I started with some white card and used my scoreboard and distress ink to create a wood grained effect.  I embossed a piece of vellum with a star embossing folder, and cut it on the diagonal. The stamp is from Our Daily Bread and I colored it with Prisma pencils and Spectrum Noir markers. The Hello Die is a Die-Versions Curly Word Die available at the Dies R Us store .

Now head to Double D Challenge Blog to see the fabulous inspiration from the team.

Let Your Soul Take Wings

I started with s smooshed water colored panel and stamped the IO sentiment on it, I covered that with a Frantic Stamper oval frame and then a  rectangular frame cut from Spellbinders.  I stamped the Memory Box Bird with  a Stampendous music score stamp and embossed it with gold embossing powder. The gold foiled music stave is from Amy's Design. The pansy is a Spellbinder's die.

Butterfly Hugs

I started with some pretty paper which I framed and layered with a  Cheery Lynn Italian Flourish Die. Then I added flowers I made from the Cheery Lynn gardenia die and a few leaves from my scrap box and a couple MFT leafy flourish die cuts.

I could not decide if I wanted the butterflies from Memory Box Butterfly exhibit in the corner or a circle with the Cheery Lynn Hugs sentiment so  I decided to layer the Hugs on the butterflies so now I have Butterfly Hugs.

I added a couple of other butterflies from Butterfly Exhibit and mounted it on some pink card. I hope she likes it.

I will enter this in  the following challenges

On Your Special Day

Time for another Double D Fabulous Inspiration Board and challenge. The pastel pinks and lavenders and clusters of flowers and feminine feel are some of my favorite design inspirations. I pulled out some of my feminine dies and began layering.

These Sue Wilson Dies are so pretty and the sentiments work for so many occasions. I used two shades  of purple for this and tried to match some flowers to the shades of lilac and purple. The Butter flies are from Butterfly Exhibit by Memory Box and the flowers are from Wild Iris.

Happy Anniversary

I am OVER THE MOON!!! I was so excited to be invited to join the talented ladies at the Dies R Us Challenge Blog. They are celebrating their second anniversary so the challenge is to make an anniversary card or project. The prize is not one but two $20 gift vouchers so I know you will want to join in the fun. The rules are simple. Just use the challenge theme and, of course, dies. Here is my card for the challenge. I wish you could see the dimension and feel the texture.

I cut the On Your Special Day three times from heavy card stock and glued them together to get more dimension. I think you can tell from the picture how the card came together without a wordy description.  It does not show but I used vellum behind the layers. The flowers are from Wild Iris.
