Double D Challenge Quote/ Sentiment

Today is the first day of the new challenge at Double D Challenge Blog, and it is all about quotes and sentiments. Diane gave us this inspirational mood board. As you can see, the quote or sentiment is the focal image in each case so that is what I tried to do on my card.

I have so many wonderful quotes and I don't use them enough. In fact, this is the first time this stamp has seen ink.  I stamped it in Versamark and embossed it in gold, and sponged a little ink around it.

I cut a rectangle out of the center of  a piece of white card stock and a smaller rectangle from the center of  a piece of black card stock and layered them together to make a frame.  I placed the quote behind the layered frame.  Lately, I have liked framing around a frame on the top of my card so that is what I did here with a Gina Marie  scalloped frame.

I always keep a stash of flowers around so I pulled chose some flowers and leaves. The flowers are Ariana Blossoms by Heartfelt Creations and the little bird is from Frantic Stamper. I decided to add a little gold embossing powder to the flowers, bird and leaves.... not quite sure how I feel about that idea. I put my finished panel on a black card base.

The prize for this challenge is quite appropriate, don't you think?

Fancy Corners

Another challenge at Dies R Us Challenge Blog starts today. This time we are challenging you to use fancy corners. Just because it is a corner does not mean you have to put it in the corner or a rectangle or square. How about in the corner of a circle or oval like I have done here?

I started my card with some paper that is lilac with green mixed in. I stamped that in versa mark with an IO script stamp and embossed with gold embossing powder.

I cut the Frantic Stamper Elemental Ovals from white and lilac. When I bought the die it was wired together, and since I have several oval dies, I decided to leave this wired together so every time I cut it I get the fancy frame and several oval frames in different sizes that can be used on other projects.
I used the largest lilac oval and glued the corner flower die to the back and trimmed the excess.
I used some velum behind the the fancy part of white die cut frame then I placed the lilac oval in the center. A Lawn Fawn stitched rectangle framed the piece. As an after thought, I decides the largest flowers needed some velum. Wish I would have thought about that before I put it together.  I also inlaid  a few pieces of the lilac in the white frame and added a few pearls. The frame was placed on a  white A2 card base.

The team has some fabulous fancy frames to show off over at Dies R Us Challenge Blog.

Tissue Box

I made this tissue box for my friend's bathroom. She saw one in my bathroom and admired it so I made one for her in shades of purple. The base frame is easy and they can be as simple or as fancy as you like. I followed the directions on this video Tissue Box. I used Cheery Lynn Italian Flourish on the sides and top.  I made the purple flowers from Cheery Lynn Floral but the white flowers are from Wild Orchid.

I will enter this at the Scrapy Land Challenge Anything Goes. I will also enter it in the Score Pal Bag or Box Challenge.

Cut two pieces of card stock 9x12
Score at 4 ¾ and  9 ½   on  12 inch side
Score at 1 inch  on the other side
Do the same with the other piece of card stock
The one inch scoreline creates the ledge for the  top of the box
The other score lines create the sides of the box.

Yvonne's Birthday

I always try to do something  special for my neighbor and bff. I have not made a double display card for awhile so I decided to do one for her, There is a lot of measuring and cutting on this type of card so it is time consuming, but worth the effort. I used so many products on this card that I am not going to try to name them all. I am going to enter this at Scrapy Land so I will mention that I used the Tutti Design Rose Frame that I cut in half, an IO birdhouse, Frantic Stamper bird on a branch Sue Wilson's On Your Special Day frame and sentiment.

Double D Glitter Challenge

Diane has challenged us to use glitter on our cards for this challenge, Love the sparkle it gives to cards. I decided to take advantage of this challenge and make a Christmas card.

I was not able to capture how pretty this card is or the details in it when I photographed it. Lots of layers and glitter.

\

I began by cutting an oval out of a 5 1/2 by 4 1/4  piece of white card stock. I layered another piece of card stock with double sided adhesive and put an Impression Obsession snowflake cover plate die cut on top. Then  I poured on some lavender glitter and burnished with my fingers. The oval was placed over the snowflake and glitter background and topped  a Frantic stamper oval and a Memory Box floral frame. The I cut a Stamping up star in white and in glitter paper and place that on top.
Drop over to Double D Challenge Blog and check out all the glitter cards by the team

Dies R Us Die Cut Handmade Flowers

It's time for a new challenge at Dies R Us Challenge Blog. It's about creating die cut flowers which is one of my favorite things to do. I made this card for the birthday of a special friend of mine, Judy Woodland. She has already gotten it so I will not be spoiling her surprise.

I began by cutting an oval out of a 5 1/2 by 4 1/4  piece of white card stock. I layered another piece of card stock with double sided adhesive and put a Spellbinder's lattice die cut on top. Then  I poured on some lavender prills and burnished with my fingers. The oval was placed over the lattice and prills and topped with a Memory Box butterfly frame. I sponged it with some distress ink while it was still in the die. I framed the card using the Lawn Fawn stitched rectangles. I used the Cheery Lynn Floral and Frantic Stamper Calla Lily for for my hand made die cut flowers.  I cut them in white and then sponged them with distress ink. A little shaping and some prills finished the flowers. I added a birthday sentiment to the Cheery Lynn Banner.

As always the design team at  Cheery Lynn Challenge Blog has some awesome inspiration  for you.
