Double D Challenge Begins with " M "

The new challenge at Double D Challenge Blog is called Begins with "M".  Dar has given us some great ideas with this mood board.

One of my best friends loves music and plays the piano so I made this music themed card  with her in mind.  I saw several variations of this on line and also found a free template of a grand piano. It took a few tries to get everything sized correctly. Even though I am happy with how it turned out,  I don't know if I will make another one because I did not write anything down, so I would be starting all over again.

I used a Cheery Lynn doily die for the background.  I added some homemade flowers and leaves, some Penny Black tulips (my friend's favorite flower), and a birthday sentiment.

The top of the piano is opens and I used some music designer paper and a flower. I made a little stand so the top of the piano can be left open.  I will write my message either on the top inside or back of the piano.

Dies R Us Graduation

A new challenge starts today at the  DIES R US Challenge Blog. This time it is about graduation.

This is an unusual year for graduating classes since most ceremonies have been canceled.  It has been a year, however, when people have used their creativity to find different ways to celebrate these special achievements. For this challenge,  I decided to make a card with the school colors of one of the local high schools.  I will give it to a teacher friend of mine so she can send it too her classroom student aid. I make  side step cards frequently so I keep several pre-made bases on hand.  It is easy then to cover the bases with some pretty papers and a few die cuts.  This card came together in less than 15 minutes.

Here are the dies I used for the card.

Double D Lavender

Diane has created another fabulous Mood Board for us over at the Double D Challenge Blog.   It's all about lavendar.  There is not an image on the board that I don't love, but I took my inspiration from the white chair and the shades of lavender and purple.

The card is prettier IRL.  I could not get a good picture of it.  I used a Sue Wilson Die that I cut from dark purple and white and put that on a lilac card base. The vase is actually an Elizabeth Craft pitcher that I cut from a piece of scrap of Stamperia  paper and filled it with Memory Box lavender and Elizabeth Craft dog woods and an assortment of greenery from my stash.

Go over to the  Double D Challenge Blog to see the inspiration from the team and then play along.  One lucky participant will receive this pretty die from Memory Box. I love how Diane and Dar pick the prizes to echo the theme of the Mood Board. They are such clever ladies.

Dies R Us Seas the Day

A new challenge starts today at DIES R US CHALLENGE BLOG called Seas the Day. For this challenge, I chose a QAE(Quick And Easy) card.  I cut a circle from a panel of white card and covered it with distress ink then sprayed with water.  I stenciled and sponged some light blue card stock with  stormy sky distress ink for clouds and water.  The die was cut from white card stock that I colored with makers and then I  placed a Lawn Fawn  square frame around my scene.
