Yellow Poppy

This came together as I was looking through die cuts  and some water colored panels that I had on hand. I started with a frame I had cut awhile back in PTI melon berry backed it with Poppy Stamps mod flower border then backed that with a water color background.  A frantic stamper white frame on top of the melon berry added a bit more texture.  I knew that I wanted a flower arrangement in the corner and finally decided I wanted a large statement so the big Iceland Poppy from Poppy Stamps would be perfect. I cut the poppy in yellow and shaded in with darker yellows. That step makes a big difference in the flower.  I kinda like how this came out.

 

I made this card with Poppy Stamps Spring Fling in mind.  It won't be long before the California poppies will adorn our hillsides. I will also enter Simon Says Monday Challenge Make Your Own Background

Nature is Painting Pictures

I started with the IO gingham background stamp. I inked it in versa mark on blue card and sprinkled with white embossing powder. I stamped the IO sentiment on white card and stamped leaves and  flowers around it. I used my paper crimper to give some texture on some blue card stock and a Martha Stewart punch to add a little more texture.

I cut two of the large butterflies and layered them together, and added a rhinestone.

Scrapy Land Challenge 37 Any Thing Goes

 Time for a new challenge at SCRAPY LAND ,and it's everyone's favorite, Anything Goes.  I just got some new Sue Wilson dies from Scrapy Land, and they are gorgeous. One of the things I like about Sue's dies is that many of them are interchangeable. I actually used three sets for this design. I started by cutting a piece of white card with  the largest of the Canadian Collection Montreal die set. I embossed that  with a Swiss dots embossing folder.  Then I cut the Montreal from black card and backed it with some designer paper from my stash.  Next I cut a piece of white card with Canadian Collection, Toranto and place it on the black die cut. I finished it with the sentiment from Ornate Ovals Just for you.

 

I made the flowers using  the flowers from Cheery Lynn's Manon's Wedding Garden.  The flourishes are from IO and the little butterflies from Memory Box's Butterfly Exhibit.

Feature a Creature

 Kathy Krug here. I am so thrilled to be working with Barb Campbell on this challenge for Mod Squad Challenge Blog  called Feature a Creature.  I am representing ONE HAPPY CUT who is offering a $15 dollar gift certificate.

Here is my card starring Brownie the Cow. Lots of gluing to put this card together but the results give so much detail.  A special note to my friend, Judy, not a flower or a butterfly on this card.  You thought I couldn't do it.

When our kids were young, my husband wanted to raise them the way he grew up so we purchased a few acres, built a barn, bought a milk cow, pigs, chickens, turkeys, and planted a garden.  It is hard to believe, but by the end of the summer my kids were saying, "No more tomatoes, cantaloupe, water melon, or corn on the cob.  We were able live on that little farm for seven years until the Air Force transferred us and we had to "sell the family farm".  My husband would still like to live on a farm and loves tractors, wagons, horses, barns and cows or anything farm related.  I purchased four die sets to make him a special birthday card with some of the things he loved about the farm. Because I purchased so many dies, it became a very expensive card (I'll never tell him how much) so I am glad to use these dies again for this challenge. Feeling Green

  Are you Feeling Green?  If not, just look at the inspiration on this Double D Challenge board, and you will be thinking and feeling green. I took my inspiration from the cupcake. 

  I started with MFT chevron cover plate cut in white and a designer paper that I have had forever. I placed the white on a green card base then inlaid the the designer paper leaving some of the green card base open.

The cupcake is from PTI's enclosed sets.   I sprinkled the sparkle icing with some hearts that I got when I cut out a Cheery Lynn heart die.  I added a little shading on the cherry added a computer clip art shamrock and a ladybug from Elizabeth Crafts.

Pretty Pink Flowers

I have not entered in a challenge at Die-Namites for quite some time, but two good friends, Verna and Lisa reminded me of the challenge so I thought I would see what I could come up with. The theme is LOVE and nothing says love more than flowers.  I am still trying my hand at clean and simple.  I did some quick coloring on the flowers so this card came together in about ten minutes. The vase is from Stampendous the little heart is Heartfelt Creations and the flowers and bow are Die-Namites.

Spring Hydrangea

Still trying my hand at clean and simple,  I think  I got the clean part this time.   Just look at all that white space. The flower is not hard to make just a lot of sponging and gluing, but the results are worth it.

Poppy

I have been having trouble making cards I like well enough to post lately so I decided I was going to do some cards for challenges and post them weather I like them of not. I made this with The Cheery Lynn (add a flourish) and Poppy Stamp Challenges(Crazy in Love but do something different) in mind.  I can't remember the last time I made an easel card so that is my something different.  I decided I was going to try clean and simple something also different for me.  I think the time I spent making the flower took away from the simple part and I guess I hate white space because I did not leave much of it so it isn't very clean either.  I shaded the poppy trying to follow Jennifer Mc Quires instructions. See her tutorial here.

Jennifer suggested that we use the picture on the package to help us build the poppy. She cut a circle as a base to build the poppy. I decided to copy the flower and fussy cut it to serve as my base.  the next time I do this I will either copy the image on colored card or color the white flower before I build because I had trouble covering all the white.

Scrapy Land Challenge 36 Tie One On

The new Challenge this week at SCRAPY LAND  is  called Tie One On.  All you need to do is include a bow(either die cut or ribbon)and use a die cut from one of the brands SCRAPY LAND sells.

I made this treat box and will complete two more which I will fill with chocolate eggs to give to  three of my gal pals.

I used the large oval die (5.5 inches) from Spellbinders Celebration ovals.   I cut three white ovals and three ovals from different patterns.  Then I used Spellbinders lacy circles and cut the pattern paper at the top and bottom which gave me enough for the three eggs. Next, I  layered them onto the white ovals. In retrospect, I wish I would have popped up the layers for more dimension.

 

I layered  some die cuts on top of the paper to give more texture and dimension.

 

I made white, blue, and silver cord bows and  placed them on the side of my egg and created a floral spray around them.  The addition of some butterflies from Butterfly Exhibit finished it off. Hope you will go over to SCRAPY LAND  and see all the inspiration from the talented designers.

Double D Red and White Challenge

Are you ready for another Double D Challenge? Just look at this wonderful inspiration board for this week's challenge and then head over to the Double D Challenge Blog and check all the inspiration from my team mates. I am sure you will want to join in and link up your project.

I liked the knitted or crocheted flower afghan and took my inspiration from it.  I used my Spellbinders Celebrations pierced rectangles for the frame and  backed it with Memory Box English Rose Corners. The red flower was made from Cheery Lynn's gardenia die.  The Hugs sentiment , the lacy heart, and the fishtail banners are also from Cheery Lynn.  I used assorted leaves that I cut and have on hand but the fern in the background is from Frantic Stamper. I will also enter the Dies R Us Challenge.
