Yellow Poppy

This came together as I was looking through die cuts  and some water colored panels that I had on hand. I started with a frame I had cut awhile back in PTI melon berry backed it with Poppy Stamps mod flower border then backed that with a water color background.  A frantic stamper white frame on top of the melon berry added a bit more texture.  I knew that I wanted a flower arrangement in the corner and finally decided I wanted a large statement so the big Iceland Poppy from Poppy Stamps would be perfect. I cut the poppy in yellow and shaded in with darker yellows. That step makes a big difference in the flower.  I kinda like how this came out.
I made this card with Poppy Stamps Spring Fling in mind.  It won't be long before the California poppies will adorn our hillsides. I will also enter Simon Says Monday Challenge Make Your Own Background

  1. I very much like how this came out. Adding a little shading to the poppy really makes it real. Framed in the dies, makes it look like a morning sunrise to a beautiful day. Love this.

  2. You are so right, the shading in the flower makes all the difference. I must remember to do that. Love the cover plate die cut, just so delicate and beautiful. You sent me a couple cover plate die cuts and I have been hoarding them, don't want to use them, but they are no good sitting in my craft room. Really nice design here, love the water color background.

  5. This is super gorgeous! Love the colors and the way you framed it with the die. The pattern paper you created with those watercolors is awesome too. And, I remember my Dad picking wild poppies and they were orange in color. Always a sweet surprise for my Mom.
