Easter Eggs

When I was a kid, I remember dying Easter eggs as a family. It was so much fun to use the wax crayon on the egg to make designs before you dipped them into the die.  Of course, that was before I knew the term RESIST. Later they introduced a type of die that speckled the eggs instead of making them  a solid color which I thought that was soo cool.   I tried to recreate that memory with some water color paper which I smooshed and then cut with Spellbinder classic ovals.  I used some scrap pieces of paper that I had around to add to the layout.   One of them was a piece of gingham that I had stamped with IO gingham cover a card stamp. I used it for the cute little bucket. I tore some branches from the Bird on a Branch and used the top of the the hydrangea die to mimic some grass, added a few eggs and a mini butterfly and wallah... I was done.  I had no idea where I was going when I started but ... I like how it turned out.

I used the following IO products

Insect Die  DIE139-I
And matching stamp
 D5642

Lg. Bird on Branch - DIE161-N

Pail - DIE164-A

Hydrangea Set - DIE044-Y

I am entering this in the
Impression Obsession Think Spring Challenge

  1. Oh this is just darling! Loving that bucket filled with eggs, grass and branch, super cool! I have the same memories about dying eggs too! And then when niece and nephews came along I got to do it all over again and then of course with our own daughter. Too bad my grand fur baby isn't crafty lol This is a lovely card and the large eggs do look exactly like that speckled kit for dying eggs. (and I have that bucket die thanks to you too, what to do, what to do?) Have a happy day!

  2. I love the idea of replicating the eggs in the bucket with the bigger eggs. Makes my brain go wild with all of the possibilities! Thanks so much for the inspiration!

  4. Beautiful card and a great memory for me too was dying the eggs. One I carried over with my own family. But since the family is all grown up we sort of passed up on that tradition. I hope my kids kept it up with their own families though!

  5. Oh, you have captured those speckled eggs perfectly!!! What wonderful memories - I remember doing the resist with crayon too. I think we all did. And yes, resist wasn't in my vocabulary back (way, way back) then. Your card is just beautiful - I love all the elements! Especially the items in your little bucket. I must remember to use one of the buckets you gave me to do something like this!!!

  8. We all have wonderful memories of coloring the Easter eggs. There were never enough and it was all over too soon. Lovely card with the Smooching. Theses were the kind that I did much later, as the technique was not around. I'm that old. We just did plain ones with our names written in crayon. I have so many birthday cards to make this month. I hope to get some time to do the fun Easter ones.
