Kentucky Derby Hat Inspiration
Be inspired by what you see on these hats,
maybe it's the colors, flowers even the horse...
look closely there is plenty...
does NOT have to be a hat!
I did not have a hat stamp or die so I thought I had to take inspiration from what was on the hats.... that is until I saw how clever and creative my team mate Barb is. She took dies she had and made her own hat. As usual the team has some wonderful inspiration for you at Double D Challenge Blog.
Three of the pictures on the board have pink flowers on them so I started there. I bought a rose stamp from Altenew several months ago. I watched several videos on this multi-layering stamp before I bought it because I have not had success with stamp layering in the past. They made it look easy, and I am sure it was for them. I can't tell you how many times I tried to get it lined up perfectly with no success. I decided to use the best one. Even though it is not perfect it is the look I was going for on this card.
Go visit Double D Challenge Blog to see all the fabulous inspiration from the team. We hope you will play along.

WOW Kathy your Rose is stunning and I think you did an outstanding job of layering the stamps. A gorgeous card with all the details and love how you have added the black. I have purchased several layering stamps but am hoping with my TH stamp platform I can get the hang of it!
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful! I love that die you used in the corner, sooooo pretty! I think your stamped/layered rose is perfect, has all of the highlights in the right places, really gives it so much depth and dimension! Your added foliage really makes it all POP....and that sentiment makes me smile! Wonderful!
ReplyDeleteYou did an amazing job with your stamp layering and created a beautiful layout to show it off!
ReplyDeleteThis is simply stunning, Kathy! I love the rose and your coloring is so amazing! The corner die with the black matting is perfect!
ReplyDeleteThis is just BEAUTIFUL! I love your overall design! That black background in the corner really makes your flower POP! And the greenery under your flower is perfect! GREAT JOB and awesome inspiration my friend! Well done!!! HAPPY Day to you!!!
ReplyDeleteKathy, what do you mean is is not perfect. This is so grand and beautiful. That rose has so much depth in it and looks so real. I think I need it. I favor that black behind the die dut background as it really make that rose stand alone. You are so right about that fact that you didn't need to do a hat. Thanks for mentioning me in your blog. I am so glad I am your friend.
ReplyDeleteIt looks perfect to me, Kathy! Gorgeous how you arranged everything with the fancy die over black. It really sets off the flower. I love the sentiment, too.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, you cannot tell whether or not that stamp set is lined up perfectly. It looks perfect to me. I love the colors you used, and I'm so partial to that Mixed Media Die. I use it often and it really shows up nicely against the black background. This whole card is just lovely!!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty and spring/summer like to make folks feel happy, hugs, Lori m
