Dies R Us Anything Goes

I love cards that have a WOW factor when you open them so the Karen Burniston  Pop and Twist die is perfect for me. I made this type of card from scratch before Karen released the die set.  I cannot believe how easy it is to create the card using the die especially if you watch her video HERE.

So we hope you will join us for our Any Thing Goes Challenge at Dies R Us Challenge Blog

Double D Sentiment

Happy third Wednesday of the month.  The third Wednesday means a new challenge at  Double D Challenge Blog.
FOCUS ON THE SENTIMENT
A sentiment must be the FOCUS of your project

I love this sentiment from Impression Obsession so that was my starting point. Since the sentiment refers to birds, I wanted to use some birds on my card.   I just got these two sweet bird dies from the Dies R Us Store  so I decided I would use them.

I cut an aperture with a Sue Wilson die from blue card stock so I could place the gold embossed sentiment behind the aperture.  I sponged a little bit of distress ink around the sentiment. I backed the birds with some blue card stock to make the lacy parts show up better.  A few Heartfelt flowers from my stash finished my card.

We would love to see how you would make the  sentiment the STAR of your card.  We hope you will join us at   Double D Challenge Blog.

Double D Featured

A new challenge starts at Double D Challenge Blog today. And with the challenge comes another fun Mood Board.

Choose an object from the mood board and make it the 'feature' on your card.

I chose the butterfly and tulip quilt. I just got the tulip die from Penny Black and was anxious to use it.  I added some color with markers and then did a little shaping.

I sponged the butterfly frame from Memory Box with distress ink while it was still in the die to get some color on some of the butterflies. I added a little twine around the tulips to tie it together. The DD team has some fabulous inspiration for you on the blog. We hope you will join us for this challenge at  Double D Challenge Blog.

Dies R Us Nature

It is the first of September and time for  a new challenge at Dies R Us Challenge Blog. The challenge this time is nature which includes so many different aspects.
I have had this Frantic Stamper die for about five years and still love it.  I usually make two or three cards with it every year because it  creates a beautiful scene.  Trees, rabbits, birds are all included in the die for the natire challemge.   I added a moon and some snowfall to complete the winter scene  and nature challenge.

These are the dies I used to create this nature scene.

We hope you will join us with a nature inspired creation of your own. The DRU team is always inspired by you.

Double D Pearls

Today starts another fabulous challenge at Double D Challenge Blog. Time to bring out the bling, and use pearls, gems or rhinestones in your project.  I needed a wedding card so I decided to use this challenge as a stepping stone for that card. I love pearls and decided that would be my gem of choice.  Take your cue from this beautiful design board.

PEARLS, GEMS or RHINESTONES

I created  this easel  card for a couple who had an out door ceremony so I tried to mimic some trees and an arch. I cut an oval from the center of a blue panel and backed it with vellum, Next  I added an IO  tree frame,   I topped the entire frame with a PTI floral frame and added a Frantic Stamper bride and groom with a Sue Wilson sentiment on top. This was fun to make. I love layering.

We hope you will join us for this challenge at Double D Challenge Blog.  Without you, we have no purpose.

Dies R Us SPORTS

Time for another fun challenge at Dies R us Challenge Blog.  Our theme this time is SPORTS. I have several gal pals who like to golf so I will use this for one of their birthdays.

I cut and oval from a piece of blue card stock and then embossed it. I backed that with the Memory Box Golf Club Landscape and Deer Grove Oval  In front of that,  I used the grass from Paper Rose Grass and flower. A little Memory Box golf cart and the Tutti Designs golf bag completed the card.

Dies R Us Bright Colors

We have a different type of challenge at  DIES R US CHALLENGE BLOG starting today.  It is all about bright colors. My husband loves all animals but has had a special relationship with horses and all things cowboy for years so I made this for his birthday.  I sponged some card stock with distress oxide inks to make a background for the fabulous die that does all the work.  To complete the scene, I used some bird dies from Sue Wilson's Island Paradise. I know he will love this card.

Double D Birthday

The Mood Board at Double D Challenge Blog is full of fun birthday images.  I loved the pink and green color scheme with the balloons and I had the perfect papers and dies for that image.

I needed a cart for my 11 year old great niece, Samantha. What kid doesn't like balloons?

I used the Stampin' Up balloon die and some alphabet dies to make it more personal. I also used some pink glitter card stock to add some sparkle. In retrospect I wish I would have used plain green for the letters... I think they would have shown up more.

One random person who links up on our birthday challenge at Double D Challenge Blog  will win this fun die, and of course, the team has some fabulous inspiration for you.

Dies R Us Birthday

The challenge at Dies R Us Challenge Blog this time is Birthday.  I don't know about you, but I send more birthday cards than anything else.   I just got a new Elizabeth Craft lace frame die from the DIES R US STORE so I started with that. I sponged a little color on the center of the die cut.

Then I grabbed one of my potted die cuts.  I usually color two or three when I have my markers out so I have some  when I want to create. Most of you who visit my blog on a regular basis know that I love making paper flowers. I usually make them in front of the TV while I watch a Hallmark movie with my hubby. All of the flowers in the pot were in my stash so this card only took me fifteen minutes to make because the only thing I had to cut was the lace frame, the Queen Anne's lace and the Happy birthday and then assemble the card.
These are the dies I used from the  DIES R US STORE

Hope you find some time to join us for the challenge.

Double D Tropical

Tropical palm trees, tropical flowers, tropical birds,  and tropical fruit. Can you guess the theme for this Double D Challenge Blog?

I was really struggling with this challenge.  I have palm tree stamps, and dies, but I have used them so often I could not think of a new idea. I was not sure what I was going to do until I remembered a friend of mine gifted me with a set of tropical flower dies from Stampin Up. Thanks Barb!!!

A left over die cut from a prievous challenge and some water colored paper backgrounds were in a basket on my desk so I decided to use them and add the tropical flowers and leaves.

The water color background looks muted in the photo, but IRL it is very shiny and full of gold highlights.

So look at the mood board and the go look at all the inspiration from the team at  Double D Challenge Blog.  If you play along, you will have a chance to win this prize.

Dies R Us Anything Goes

How about some coffee and some chocolate?  I fell in love with the idea of making pretty cards with treat boxes inside.  I made this one for a coffee raffle basket.  Karen Burniston dies are fabulous for pop ups. but they can also be used for the outside of a card like I have done here.

Untie the ribbon and you will see six individually wrapped chocolates.

Here are the dies that I used from the Dies R Us Store.

Precious Marieke Square Flower Frame

This is an easy challenge.... just remember to use at least one metal die and then link up at Dies R Us Challenge Blog for a chance to win a gift certificate to the Dies R Us Store.

Double D Pick a Pattern

Time for a new challenge at  Double D Challenge Blog This one is called pick a pattern and here is the fabulous mood board.

You may wonder why my colors don't match the mood board.  The answer is simple. I got my challenges mixed up.  In a future challenge, I noticed pink and lime green being used together and thought "That's a pretty combination." A few days later when I decided to work on this challenge I rembered the pink and green.  So went through my papers and found these colors and was thrilled ,,, until I went to post this on the blog  and noticed the colors on the board .... no pink, no green.   Oh well, at least I have patterns. Just imagine I used blue or red or black gingham. This would make a pretty Christmas card if I used red gingham and a red poinsettia.

One of the things I live about DD Challenges is that I get to use some of my older and sometimes retired dies.  I love this chevron die and I think it looks great in pink and green.  The side panel is from Frantic Stamper and the Flower is Elizabeth Craft Shasta Daisy.  I don't know what dies I used under the flower because on days when I am not feeling creative I put several dies on half sheet of  green paper and run them through the die cutting machine. I might do this 10-12 times.  I save them with my flower stash so I can make my floral arrangements quickly.

If you play along with this challenge, one lucky person will win this paper pad from Echo Park.  Don't you love how Dar and Diane make the prize suitable for the challenge. Such clever ladies.

Now go see what my team mates provided for your inspiration.  They never disappoint. Double D Challenge Blog

Dies R Us Summer

It is the 15th of the month and time for a new challenge at DIES R US.  This time it is all about summer.  One of my favorite summertime activities has always been boating and spending time at the lake, Now I am more of a noodle type of person... just give me a water noodle and I will drift along in the lake for hours, but the rest of the family loved to water ski and tube. When we moved to California, Lake Whiskytown was a short 15 minutes from our house so we would get off work and head for the lake. Unfortunately, all the wooded area around Whiskytown was destroyed in the Carr fire last summer. It will take a few years for it to be as beautiful as it once was. This box card is a reminder of the fun times we had there.

These are the dies I used to make the card.

Double D Rose Garden

Welcome to another Double D Challenge and a beautiful rose inapiration board.

Roses are so beautiful and so fragrant.  I love walking in a garden full of them. This pretty Mood Board is so inspiring.

Since the roses in the Mood board are pink , I decided to make a pink card. I noticed the white picket fence in the bottom right card and decided to use my Spellbinders lattice die as a backdrop.  I did not have any rose flowers so I used a punch to make the smaller ones.  The larger one in the center was made using IO Strawberry flower. The team has fabulous inspiration for you Double D Challenge Blog. Your creations always inspire us!!!!

Dies R Us Kids

I Just got some new dies from the Dies R Us Store.  They arrived just in time for the June 1st Challenge at Dies R Us Challenge Blog.  When my kids were young,we lived on a large piece of wooded property in a log cabin.  My husband cleared a piece of the property and made a campground that could be used by church groups, boy scouts, girl scouts etc.  Because he liked camping, he would take our kids to the camp ground where they would have the whole camping experience.  Not much for camping, I would join them for dinner and  s' mores, but my son always walked me back to the cabin just before dark (they were afraid I would get lost in the woods) where I slept comfortably in my own bed. These dies brought back those memories.

Nothing unusual, just a little sponging, coloring  and some super cool dies. The team has created some great kid cards for your inspiration.  Go take a look at Dies R Us Challenge Blog,
