Sketch Challenge

I thought this was the most fabulous sketch when I saw it on my friend Verna's blog.  I had a
Die-namites Leafy Flourish that I thought would work with the sketch.  Here is my take on the challenge which was to use the sketch and the color pink.  I used several dies for this.
MFT Fish tails. Spellbinders bitty blosoms and leaves. IO and Sizzix  Hearts and Die-Namites Leafy Fourish  http://www.die-namites.com/Leafy-Flourish_p_56.html in green and white.  I will enter this in the Die-Namites Sketch and Dare Challenge

Friends are Flowers

I absolutely love tis sentiment from IO.  I wanted it to be the star of the card so I embossed it in white embossing powder and then sponged with distress inks.  I used a Cuttlbug embossing folder Birds and Vines for the white panel.  The flourishes are from IO's Heart Flourish that I pieced together.
The following IOproducts were used.

Thank You 4x4

I will enter this in two challenges.  One is at Stamp TV where you were to create a 4x4 thank you card and the other at Mod Squad http://modsquadchallenge.blogspot.com/ create a Thank You card.   I created some water color background.  I was anxious to try this because I finally purchased water color paper.  Love it.  I will be experimenting and learning for quite awhile. I cased one of my own designs when doing this(What????).  Occasionally, I do like what I do. The feather is a Spellbinders die. I used Gina K Designs Botanicals and Summer Blooms  for this project.

Snow Globe Shaker

I used both old and new things.  I have had the snow globe from IO for a year now but I have only used it once.  IO also sells the plastic globes that fit in the circle so it is easy to make a shaker card. The dp is from a stack that I bought three years ago.  The new things are the pine trees in the snow globe that I cut from white glitter paper and the wood grained background stamp.  It does not show up very well in the picture.  The snow flakes were new before Christmas but I used them several times on Christmas cards.
I used the following IO products

Snow Globe - DIE122-R  Deer Trio - DIE080-N  Fir tree DIE217-E  small snow flake DIE100-F

Christmas Card 2014

I will enter this in a few challenges.  The MOD Squad Challenge "Frilly Fun", hosted by Joyce Erb, this week was to use two dies. http://modsquadchallenge.blogspot.com/  and the Simon Says Wednesday challenge Bling it On"  http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/wednesdaychallenge/simon-says-bling-it-on-2/ JUst Us Girls Trend Week http://justusgirlschallenge.blogspot.com/  I used The Fish Net cover plate from MFT, ponsettia die and heirloom ornaments from Spellbinders, the pine branch, chickadees and snowflakes from IO and branch and pine from Dee's Dies  and Happy Holidays from Cheery Lynn for a grand total of nine.  I also used four stamp sets: Chickadees from IO and Heirloom Ornaments from Gina K, Designs  and poinsettia by Justrite, and a snowflake by Inkadinkadoo.

I started the process by creating some marble backgrounds on glossy card stock.  I played around and made lots of different colors and using both silver and gold Adirondac mixatives.

The next step was to stamp the heirloom ornament with Versa Mark and emboss using white embossing powder.  Since I had my supplies there, I also stamped and embossed my flower on colored card stock.

Next I cut out the ornament using the spellbinder die. As I said, I tried several colors of paper but I liked the pink and the blue best.  I put a rhinestone in the center of the ornament.

Next I made a cut out  for my poinsettia so I could cut them correctly and cut them with the Spellbinder dies.  Each flower has four layers.  For me it was easier to do them separately instead of taping all four  and just passing it through once.  Every time I tried to cut all four at one time  one would be a little off the mark. After all layers were cut, I assembled the flower and put a rhinestone in the center.

The next step was to do some other die cutting.

At this point I started the assembly process.  First I stamped and embossed a 5X7  white card base with a snowflake stamp and versa mark creating an all over pattern sprinkled it with white embossing powder and heat set.  Then I centered the fishnet die cut on the base. I the dipped the pine boughs in some flower soft that I made by rubbing star foam pieces together, and put them on my card centering the flower on top.  I used the small pine branches and brown branch dies also dipped in snow to fill in.

Then I popped the ornament under the bough with some pop dots.

Now I started on some finishing touches. I stamped, colored and die cut the chicadees

I used some of the marble paper to cut the Happy Holidays sentiment.

Finally, I cut and added the snowflake dies to the background and used a hole punch to cut some small circles from the marble paper. I used a marker to put the small dot on each berry and added the birds. I am finally finished with only 49 more to make.

Frosty

This was a fun project for me. I haven't made a step card in awhile, and while I love learning new techniques, I enjoy  revisiting some old ones for variety. . I decided to do a side step card for these challenges .  The challenge at Mod Squad (Frosty the Snowman) was to use snowmen.  I oped for digi images from Beccy's Place   http://beccysplace.blogspot.com/  because I could size them for this project.  I love dimension and texture on a card.  The side step card provides lots of dimension, but I also created levels by using pop dots. I am not skilled enough with my photography to show the many levels.  The texture does not  show up that well either, but I used some white  embossing powder on the trees and the song lyrics.  The  front snowman has a piece of a cotton ball on his hat and the snowman on the second level has a cotton ball snowball in his hand ready to throw at you. I also used home made flower soft around the fence and on snow hills.  The fence and trees are IO dies. I used a digital image of the song lyrics of Frosty the Snowman for a background.  This actually came together quickly because I used images and die cuts that I had in my stash.  The only thing I didn't have is the lyrics from Frosty.

I will enter this in the  Dies are Us Winter Wonder  Land
in Mod Squad  Frosty the Snowman http://modsquadchallenge.blogspot.com/
and the Simon Says Wednesday challenge.

Timed One Layer card

I made this card for a timed challenge at the Mod Squad Challenge Blog http://modsquadchallenge.blogspot.com/
I love what you learn about yourself when you decide to take on a challenge.  I learned that I do not work well under pressure. I set the timer and began working in a frenzy. I won't go into the number of mishaps that occurred that forced me to start over again THREE times, When I felt my blood pressure rising, I decided that Joyce, this week's hostess, would want me to go back to my snail's pace in order to protect my health. So this card took me 10 minutes and 15 seconds (not counting the time it took the Stickles to dry). Most of the time was taken up by coloring.  I used pencils, but I think it might have gone faster with markers,

Grandma's Attic

The Mod Squad Challenge hosted by Donna Phelan is to use a doily somewhere on your card. I decided to make a fall card.  I stamped some faded brick card stock with an IO background stamp masking the section where I wanted my sentiment.  I love this sentiment from Gina K Designs. The sunflower and leaf flourish are from MFT.  I don't remember who made the little flower die but the acorns are from Cherry Lynn.  My camera is not compatible with new computer so my son took this pic with his cell phone and it has a little glare.  Need to decide on a new camera soon. You can see the other fabulous entries here.  I will also ent this in the Dies R Us challenge ,Thankful. http://diesruschallenge. http://diesruschallenge.blogspot.com/?mc_cid=c3173065ed&mc_eid=d382285b4a

Earl's Retirement Card

My brother-in -law is so easy  to make a card for because he has sooo many hobbies,  I did a fishing card for him that I entered in a challenge a while back.  He loved it, and told my sister he was waiting for a retirement card.  I have never tried a box card so I decided he was the perfect candidate.   The front panels are fishing related, the two sides are golfing and hunting related and the back panel is camping.  I will enter this in two challenges.  My friend, Judy Woodland, is hosting a challenge at Mod Squad .  The challenge is to make your favorite type of card.  This fits in two ways because I tried something new and I made a special card for a special person  .http://modsquadchallenge.blogspot.com/ I will also enter it in Simon Says Wednesday Challenge "Get Crafty Use Kraft"
http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/wednesdaychallenge/

This card was his birthday card that I entered in a Stamp TV challenge in March.
